BSES Bike Rodeo & Family Wellness Event 2019

We want to celebrate National Bike/Walk to School Day and allow our students & parents to practice/reinforce their bike/scooter skills during our Bike Rodeo & Wellness Event on Wednesday May 8th, 2019.

Where: Bellows Spring Elementary Parking Lot/Field/Cafeteria

For who: BSES students & their families

What is it: The goal of our bicycle rodeo is to provide an opportunity for the participants to learn, practice, and demonstrate their bicycle handling skills in a fun, non-competitive atmosphere.

This is a FREE event for our school! Everything has been donated by local businesses and community members.  The Bike Rodeo is an event that is made up of a series of stations, each dealing with an important aspect of safe cycling. Participants will have their bicycles inspected by a local bike shop and will then learn about and practice bicycle-handling skills that will increase their enjoyment of bicycling and could some day save their lives. Parents are invited to participate, too.  We have bikes that can be used if you don't have one.

If you don't want to ride a bike, you can use one of our scooters or you can participate in some of our wellness activities like golf, pickleball, scooter relays, etc.  We will also be raffling off a variety of items from our local healthy & active business sponsors.

The Howard County Police Bike Patrol will be joining us, local bike shops, along with some other business vendors to support our event.  We hope you can join us!

What to bring: Your family, bikes, helmets (required!), sneakers, water bottles.  If you do not have a bike or helmet, you can check one out from us to use as you navigate through the stations.  Or just bring yourself to play some golf and enjoy the other activities!  We are asking parents to be with their children as they navigate and move through the activities for safety purposes.
